Terms of Service

What AlignLocally is

AlignLocally is a booking platform that connects customers with independent local service businesses ("providers"). We are not a party to the service itself — the agreement to perform work, its quality, pricing, and payment is between you and the provider directly. We do not employ providers and are not responsible for their conduct or the work they perform.

Acceptable use

You may not use AlignLocally for any illegal purpose, to harass or defraud another user, or to submit false or misleading information. If we determine in our judgment that an account has been used this way, we may suspend or terminate that account without prior notice.

Payments

AlignLocally never takes, holds or moves payment for a job. You pay the provider directly, by whatever method they accept. If a provider sends a payment request, the link goes to the provider's own payment page (for example Stripe, Square or Venmo), and the payment is between you and them. Because we never handle the money, we can't issue refunds, reverse charges or settle payment disputes. Providers pay AlignLocally only for their own subscription.

Reporting a problem and resolving disputes

If something goes wrong with a booking, please try to sort it out with the other side first, using the messages on the booking. Most issues end there.

If that doesn't work, report it to us: use “Report” on a message, or contact alignlocally@gmail.com. When a customer or a provider reports a problem, AlignLocally staff may read the messages and booking details between that customer and that provider to understand what happened. We only look at conversations connected to a report, or when we need to for safety or to comply with the law.

What we can do is limited to the platform itself: we can contact both sides, issue a warning, remove content, hide a listing, or suspend or close an account. We aren't a party to the job, we don't act as a judge or arbitrator, and we can't award money.

By using AlignLocally, you agree to bring any dispute with another user to the other side and then to us, as described above, and to give that process a fair chance (at least 30 days) before taking other action. This doesn't remove any rights you have under the law where you live.

What providers post

Providers are responsible for everything on their page: services, photos, policies, questions and answers. It must be accurate and theirs to post. Providers give AlignLocally permission to show it on the site and in search results while their listing is active. Some content, such as a provider's own questions, is reviewed before it appears, and we may remove anything that breaks these terms.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Provider accounts are reviewed before a listing goes live; we may decline or remove a listing at our discretion.

Communications

When you submit a booking request, we send you and the provider email notifications related to that request (confirmations, reminders, messages). If you provide a phone number and separately opt in, the provider may call you, and once texting is available, we or the provider may text you, about that specific booking. You can decline this when asked, and it never affects your ability to submit a request.

Fair use.Automated emails and texts sent through AlignLocally are strictly transactional — booking confirmations, reminders, cancellations, and messages tied to a specific request. They are never used for broadcast marketing, newsletters, or cold outreach, and a provider may not use the platform to build or message a mailing list. Any account found using AlignLocally's notification system this way may be suspended.

Limitation of liability

AlignLocally is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or from a service booked through it.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
